Parablog #1 - The Long and Winding road to Hiring Success 

Not all requisitions are made equal, within every organisation exist roles with unique requirements and barriers that must be overcome. Some positions become so confronting and elusive that the road leading to them can seem to be strewn with the metaphorical remains of recruiters gone before. Whilst I am yet to find a role literally guarded by a fire-breathing dragon there is still a plethora of very real obstacles that can stand in the way of successful hiring including complex relocation requirements, scarcity of specialized skills or hiring managers with exacting standards, to name but a few…  

Uninviting as these roles undoubtedly appear to most, as they sit in the corner gathering dust and a sour smell… to us at Paracruiter (being almost unanimous fans of Indiana Jones) they are regarded in the rosy light of adventure and we take the professional challenge to heart. Thank-less and turbulent as the process can sometimes feel, these roles are the reason we get out of bed in the mornings and the fulfilment of them brings us all the more joy for the tenacity, persistence and passion put in.  

When any of our clients come to us with one of these roles (as they often do) we take stock of the work done before us and use our signature sourcing technique, which is not so much a practice as it is a pleasure for us, to attempt to find the ‘invisible talent’ on the market.  

Sometimes the search needs to be run more than once and any TA professional will tell you that sourcing over well-trodden ground can be demoralising. The temptation to let the role ‘fall by the wayside’ mounts as the search metrics run into the hundreds or even thousands of profiles. This is where the deeper motivation for the practice of recruitment comes into play and the creativity of the individual the ‘Paracruiter’ can shine through. Each day coming back to the search, trying all sorts of nuance and progressively esoteric search parameters, trying to turn over the stones overlooked and find whatever treasure may lay beneath. We have found without question that if you are persistent enough, eventually, lady luck will show her face… 

And then, after a little (or a lot) of time, you strike gold. You find the perfect candidate, the needle in the proverbial haystack.
